The crisis in Guayaquil's Morgue - BBC 

Jesús was found dead in Guayaquil, Ecuador, a city currently overwhelmed by violence from criminal organizations. His body, along with many others from violent deaths, has been left decomposing in the overcrowded morgue. This situation has sparked public outrage after residents reported unbearable odors and the media captured the distressing scenes.

Juan Pablo left Azuay, Ecuador, for the U.S. after two previous failed attempts. Last seen in Ciudad Juarez, he went missing in the desert while crossing with a coyote. His family has been searching for him since, after losing contact during the journey.

Rosario visits an olive tree daily, feeling her late son Gabriel, who died by suicide at 21, is still with her through paper butterflies around the tree. In Spain, 3,491 people died by suicide in 2020. Survivors, those left behind, often face immense grief with little support from public mental health services.

In Jackson Heights, Queens, the cult of Santa Muerte, led by Arely Vásquez, offers a refuge for migrants and outsiders, despite criticism from the Catholic Church. The community gathers monthly for prayers and shares food, fostering a supportive environment where followers, including Juan Carlos Guardarrama and Denisse, can express their beliefs and identities.

In 2023, Ecuador faced extreme violence with 8,004 deaths, making it the most violent country in Latin America. In response, Ecuador requested the U.S. extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to its migrants due to ongoing violence. Ecuadorian organizations have mobilized to support this request and inform the community about TPS's potential benefits for those affected.

In 1945, after the Nazi defeat, a lesser-known humanitarian crisis emerged as the Allies established special camps to imprison Third Reich officials, SS members, and Gestapo police. However, many German civilians, including children with no direct ties to the regime, were also detained. One of those civilians was Bruno.
